H501SS Help

Post by offconrad » Sat Aug 11, 2018 7:28 pm

I'm very new to the hobby and this H501s quad is my first ever. I'm trying to identify which version I have. It does indeed have the H501a board visible inside the battery tray but when I check for the firmware versions in the transmitter it identifies it as an H501s not H501ss. This is what it shows:
H906A V1.1.17
H501s V2.1.50 V1.1.46

Can anyone tell me if there are the latest firmware versions? I am having slight issues with the quad holding altitude and position in GPS mode. It wants to drop altitude and begin to veer from its hold position.

Thank you in advance for any assistance.

Thank you for the response. According to the video you supplied noting the differences between the h501s and the h501ss it appears to be an "SS" version having the H501A board but the transmitter does not see it correctly. Not sure why there is a discrepancy.

Hello,

Your firmware is the latest one.You drone is the new H501S with automatical compass calibration.

For the issue of the hold position, may I know where did you fly the drone ?Kindly check if the propeller and battery cover in the drone install fine.

Thank you for the response. I fly the drone in New Jersey USA. It's funny that you say that it automatically calibrates the compass because for the first 4 flights it never once asked me to calibrate but now it does almost every flight. I reinstalled the props and the battery case closes just fine.

Took it for a quick flight this morning. It was rock steady, no floating away in gps mode. The only difference is i took off my Samsung smart watch. Could the bluetooth/WIFI in the watch cause the erratic behavior? Thank you all for the assistance.
