Post by StephanColyn » Sat Nov 24, 2018 1:07 pm

Hi Guys,

Hope you are all well.
I got the 501s yesterday, and took it out today for the first time, I am having some issues.... the 501s was only about 30meters away from me and doesnt allow me to conroll it, its extreamly sluggish and does not react to my in puts only after while it that it reacts...keeps on doing this. Also the follow me function does not work...it starts to follow but when I stop it just continues for about 50meters and then stops??
Regards

Which controller are you using. It could be controller or the quad but first we need to know what controller. Do you get FPV display when this\ occurs and control is the only issue? Do you have another quad to test with ? Since some basic functions work it is a range issue most likely caused by weak control channel from controller thus we need to know what you have.

Do you have H901A controller? If you do I can walk you thru reading the signal sending from the controller to the quad and so/

Hello StephanColyn ,

For this issue ,would you mind to enter into the test mode and show the video for demonstrating this issue?

The way to enter into the test mode as attached below
Set up both drone and transmitter for flight, pass compass calibration and then switch the transmitter off, but leave the drone on. Then, hold down the Exit key (Advanced transmitter) or Video key (Standard Transmitter) and keep holding it while you switch the transmitter on. You should see some numbers come up on the screen that were not present before. We call those the RSSI values (received signal strength indication)- and they tell us how powerful a particular signal is.
Keep an eye on the 2.4 numbers and move the transmitter around 30 feet (10m) away from the aircraft. While moving away, note how high the 2.4 signal strength on both transmitter and aircraft are- observe for a while, watch how they drop.

Normal RSSI numbers should be around mod 80;s to loe 90's at short distances If the left one of the 2.4g signals suddenly drops loe it indicates a transmitter issue.

Here is a screen shot show you the RSSI values. If the Transmite value on the left suddenly drops significantly low at 30 meters it is most likely you transmitter that is at fault.

Thanks for all the input guys, much appreciated turns out the controller was faulty, the supplier in South Africa replaced the drone and controller and all is well now.
