Help:Hubsan H501ss circle fly

Post by BobDrev » Sat Aug 18, 2018 2:38 pm

Can anyone advise me on how to circle fly and record with my H501ss. It will circle fly when I press and hold video button for 3-5 seconds, but then when I press video button again to record, circle fly toggles off and recording begins. What am I missing? Thanks in advance.

Bob,

Here are two helpful You tube videos from Tom Duddly

Advanced Controller.

Standard Controller
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fOopzBDFq0c

Below is courtesy of Peter Martin on FaceBook

Circle Fly 1.

Quad will circle around the controller which is at the centre.
Standard controller, press and hold ‘Video’ button. Advanced, press and hold ’Down’ button
Speed: Move the right stick left or right Height: Use the throttle stick Diameter: Move the right stick forward or back

Circle Fly 2.

The centre of the circle can be moved away from the controller, the diameter of the circle can be adjusted.
To do this first hover the drone in desired location (new focus point), long press the “up” button on the advanced transmitter or “photo” button on the standard transmitter. The distance value displayed on the transmitter will change from green to red, the distance value will reset to “0”
The drones position is now the orbiting focus point. Use the elevator stick “up or down only” to set the orbit diameter. Don’t move the elevator stick left and right or it will exit the orbiting mode feature.

After distance is set, long press the "down" button on the advanced transmitter or “video” button on standard transmitter to engage your custom orbit location and diameter. While in this orbit mode you can adjust wider or smaller diameters and change your altitude during flight.

When you finish and exit orbit mode the distance value will reset to the correct distance value between controller and drone.

Firmware requirement: S and SS versions of the H501S.

They both use the same TX and FC firmware but not the same RX firmware.

Standard Controller TX4.2.19, RX1.2.20 (S) or RX2.1.22 (SS) and FC1.1.36 [or above] Circle fly 1

Advanced Controller TX1.1.9, RX1.2.20 (S) or RX2.1.22 (SS) and FC1.1.36 [or above] Circle fly 1

Standard Controller TX4.2.28, RX1.2.20 (S) or RX2.1.29 (SS) and FC1.1.41 [or above] Circle Fly 1 & 2

Advanced Controller TX1.1.16, RX1.2.20 (S) or RX2.1.29 (SS) and FC1.1.41 [or above] Circle Fly 1 & 2

The H501A requires RX1.1.33 or above.

Peter

Or easier still use aileron and the opposite rudder. Works without any of thatnonsense above 🙂

I suggest you join two Facegroup groups for things Hubsan. They are full of tons of information and people usually will answer questions in a couple of hours or so. They are closed groups but the take members. You will find these two groups significantly better than anything Hubsan does.

Two top Facebook Hubsan Groups.

Hubsan H501 / H502 / H122D
Quads and Mods

They do prefer that you RTFM but usually will answer questions in a timely manner. As an example 5 minutes after I posted Circle Fly issue for you the answer was back to me. Even though I know how to do someone else did the writeups and video so why repeat the work.

Thanks for this info Jim , was wondering why I only had circlefly 1 on my h906a , it seems I need to update the firmware from 1.1.9 to 1.1.16
