Just killed my H501ss

Post by magicmannst » Tue Aug 14, 2018 2:23 pm

got it yesterday been flying, but my FPV was snowy and going black. finally got a decent signal. so like an idiot,i was watching the screen. I thought I was high enough.but wasn't. fell 60' (18 meters) to the ground broke one motor pod right off. so now i'm gonna order new body shell.but actually it may have paid off. on stripping it down, the ipex on the 2.4 antenna wasn't actually connected the the drones motherboard..glued and just touching. so my faux pas may have saved my drone from maybe something worse than just hitting the ground. my short story.i wish it had recorded.but for some reason every time I tried on an 8gb class 10 sd card it always said error when trying to open file.it was there had file directories and all.but vid (mp4) would always say error.anyway. you all have a good laugh.we live and learn.

When videos are shot with the Hubsan drones unless you terminate the video by hitting the video button before powering off the Video file is not closed recover_mp4.zip is attached

I had an opposite scenario flying in AltHold for first time at some speed and FPV went out and 10 meters later at 20' high I bounced off a house. Luckily not damage. :o

Hubsan will not acknowledge a FPV problem. Cruise this forum and take a look at YouTube and you will find many people, including me, seeking help with FPV display problems. Hubsan will not go near it because the know they have both a warranty problem and ongoing FPV problem with their drones. Solution: pay them to fix their warranty problems or try to fix it yourself. Hubsan will not work with you.

appreciate that file jarhead. now I just have to find my sd card..lol. as for Husban acknowledgeing a prob.i'm not worried.i was gonna mod all the antenna's anyway. but I will make one note about the fpv prob I was having.i own a hyundai with push button start.the key-fob caused quite a bit of interference.but not the black screen.even with my key-fob in the house screen would black out.if I recover that file I will post it on here

BobDev you are absolutely correct about FPV issues. I just bought a 5.8g replacement antenna for my H501A because I need FPV with the new H901A controller I bought so I can fly AltHold mode. I have had FPV issue since day 1, brought it to Hubsan's attention, performed ll the Back to Basic stuff and still not 1 bit of help on their number 1 problem.

4 weeks and 0 help.

You ask why I am leaving this Forum. I have answered more question and helped folks with more problems than Hubsan in the time I have been on this forum even with mu Observation ABout Customer Service distractions.

Back up and flying.handles fantastic.my FPV is awesome.relocated antenna from over the mother board.so now it is out of the front right lampshade.( far less EMI from the motherboard) as the antenna cable no longer runs over it.(if the cables were rg178 laying over the mother board the emi would have no effect)
for some reason it is not recording. i don't know if the fall messed up the camera,.but first I will try another sd card.
only thing i'm not happy with is the new shell.it doesent want to click together.i didn't get it off this site.but it was hubsanus.com . for now though it'll work.i guess next month i'm buying another shell.hopefully some black will be in stock.
also next month is antenna upgrades.
oh yeah I also drilled a hole in the bottom and pointed my 2.4 out of it.much stronger signal.
here in awhile when I go fly it again i'll check my rssi. it was 80 on 5.8 if I was right next to it.but I could move and it'd drop to zero.2.4 ran right around 90 from where ever I was,up to 25 or 30 meters before it started to drop.

have fun all be safe.

down 3 days, now back in the sky

On an H501A the front pods have the WiFi antennas do they are not an option H501A pilots.

Bottom line is that it will make very little difference moving the antenna.
