H501A+ & HT011A & HS001

New to Hubsan and am trying to confirm that the H501A+ and the HT011A Controller will bind and work with the HS001 display. From what I have seen these should all play nicely together and address the video lag time common to WiFi display on Cell Phones. Is this observation correct and all three will bind and operate as seamlessly as possible?

If this all works it seems like a winning combination

Can you still utilize the waypoints and follow me functions of the H501A+ with the HS001?

What is the expected range of the configuration? Is 300 meters to 400 meters attainable?

The H501A+HT011A &HS001 just have the follow me function and no Way points function.
The range of the configuration is 400 meters.

Thanks for the info re: use of HS001 and the H501A and HT011A. It seems that if the HT011A behaves well with smartphone then I might as well stay with it since I don't fly out more than 300m out and 40m high (if that). We shall see if it is worth spending another $65 for the HS001.

The 1km range that has been talked about on the Hubsan Youtube channel may be wishful thinking and loosing waypoint capability from the APP is too much of a tradeoff in my mind. The only problem with smartphone is my Apple 7 phone gets washed out pretty badly in full sunshine making it unusable. I have an old Apple 5 that gets much brighter that I may use in conjunction with the HT011A. Its screen is smaller than the Iphone 7 but all I want is a visual cue to which direction camera is pointing and where the H501A is. If screen size is an issue, I will use the Iphone 7 when the sun is lower in the sky.

I have the 501A , Ht011A iPhone 6c setup . With my first 501 A , I bought the HT011A and HS001 directly form Hubsan . The 501A , HT011a and HS001A set was a disaster . I was flying and no more than 50 meters out , the display went black and the HT011A froze , needless to say I lost my 501A . I sent the display and the HT011A back for a refund . Then I gave Hubsan another try and got the 501A advanced that comes with the HT011a . I have to use my iPhone for videos . If I had to do all this over , knowing what I know now , I would just keep the 501A and use the relay that came with it and my iPhone setup. Works as good as the HT011A and cheaper .

My H501A and HT011A /relay and 2ea 7.4v 2700mAh batteries was $112.50 auction price from Ebay store miflydrone2017.

On June 29th and June 30th hubsanus and miflydrone2017 had auctions on the H501A, H501M and H501S. In all about 20 quads were up for auction in a 36 hour period. I happened across the auctions June 28th when the auctions opened.

Average auction selling price on H501A was $115 while the H501S went for around $160 and the H501M for around $85. All three came with their appropriate controllers. HT011A for H501A, H901A for the H501S and the Bluetooth HT009 for the H501M.

It was a late night auction but well worth the time to save the money and get the HT011A and extra battery. I am still waiting for it to arrive in 2 days. A day to charge everything up and weather permitting flight on Tuesday the 10th of July. Just hope no flyaway. (maybe I will take one users advice and hook it up to a fishing rod to reel it in ).

My cheap Sky Viper v2450 GPS drone has always locked into 12+ satellites in over 250 flights where I live so satellites should not be an issue. We will go to a big park to fly where there are minimal trees and open view to Southern and western skies. Unfortunately WiFi signals are everywhere in the suburban neighborhood.

It finally got here at 4:45 pm. What a brief product manual!
The manual says nothing about altitude hold. For that matter it says nothing about much at all. For Rookie Drone user it is not sufficient. Glad I took time to do some research on this H501A package.

Unboxing:
The HT011A did come with a LIPO 1300MAh 7.4V battery.
It came with single 2S Balance Charger and AC Adapter. (Dual output unit on order but not due for 3 weeks.)
Prop Wrench.
H501A drone.
2ea Prop sets.
2ea 2700mAh 7.4V batteries.

Missing IR filter.

I will charge the batteries tonight and fly it tomorrow if all goes well.

First 40 minutes of flight was amazing. Tried out Orbit, Follow Me and Waypoint features and they worked great. Is kind of neat to set up a waypoint mission and sit back and watch the display. Orbit is also neat. Fly up to 30m and out 20m-30m and check out the views. People watching me got a kick out of when I put in follow me mode at 10m high and 15m away and walked thru the open field park with a drone leading the way.

All in all a fun first outing with the H501A X4 Air Pro.

First flights were great but since then I have had flyaways and black FPV with HT011A & HS001.
Flyaways have occured with HT011A in WiFi and 2.4G modes of operation. WiFi continues to lose connection while I have no idea what is happening on 2.4G flight. Went back to place where first flights were great and now flyaway is common past 100 meters. Scared to lose H501A

Returned HS001 Could not get FPV to display reliably. Kept dropping connection.
