RTH on low battery

Hi
last time i was out i was flying drone but had no audible beeps on low battery voltage.
i kept it fairly close but at one point the drone just fell out of the sky
the GPS still worked so finding it in the tall grass was straight forward
i thought the drone should RTH when its voltage is too low or is that miss-understanding on my part
thank you
Carl

Hi Carl, what drone you got mate?
It's strange you never got a battery warning, we normally get at least 2 or 3.
But yeah all the Hubsan gps drones I know of do return to home when the battery voltage gets too low, or if you lose signal or if you command it, but you can cancel the operation too..
Mine have all returned to home if flying far distances and the voltage gets low, but I have not tested it when flying close to me, as I would just normally bring them in myself.
but if my memory is correct I could be wrong on this though, if your flying too close under 10m they don't return to home as they expect you to do it?
Someone will correct me if I'm wrong,, I'm going to a fly on Saturday so I can test it for you too if you like.

The aircraft is meant to descend slowly when the battery is too low.
Marc is correct about the RTH being inactive within 10 meters.

hi thank you all for the replies
it is a H501-ss
it was about 90 metres away at about 12 metres height.
have been a little more circumspect when getting nearer low battery voltage and it has not done it again

Not doing an automatic return to home if the Drone is within 10 meters seems a little dumb to me especially on first battery warning. Yes it may have to go up in altitude to safely come down in RTH location but that is a heck of a lot better than falling out of the sky IMHO.

On my H502S, once the battery level drops until the indicator turns red on the H901A transmitter, if I cancel RTH, even if I initiated the RTH, it will fly until it drops instead of initiating a RTH or safe landing. Otherwise, it always initiates RTH, returns and lands. I haven’t had it deplete the battery on RTH to witness if it descends and lands.
