FPV Lag

Hi all,
Recently received H501A and HT011A controller. Connected my android phone with X-Hubsan App ver 1.4.9, to the HT011A via WiFi. Connected the HT011A to the H501A, and completed the rest of the setup. Ran short test flight controlling copter with the HT011A. All good (almost). My concern is the lengthy lag in the FPV video presented on the phone via the X-Hubsan App; 20 to 30 seconds. After searching the internet, I find this is a fairly common problem, especially with the android version of the app. Other software data: Aircraft Software...H501A_IT_V1.1.14; FC...H501A RX-V1.1.50 FC- V1.1.46.
Since many of the Apple users are reporting good FPV , I'm guessing that my problem lies with my phone/X-Hubsan combination. Any suggestions on how to reduce the delay would be appreciated. BTW moving the picture to the small "map" and back didn't seem to help. Perhaps a future update of the App will address the problem.
Thanks,
gus

I would like to make a video, but it is beyond my present capability. Basically, what I see on my android phone screen, using X-Hubsan app on WiFi, is where the copter was 20-30 seconds ago, which provides little useful information for flying; must be done "line-of-sight". This is my first FPV copter and was hoping to be able to utilize the FPV feature to assist in flying.

Gus62 you may want to look at the Hs001 display ($65) from Hubsan. It will bind with your H501A and HT011A and give you FPV range without the lag common to the APP and the HT011A. There are YouTube video regarding this. Banggood also sells this for under $60.00

The drawback of using this is you won't have waypoint navigation with it. Is a trade off of getting range of better than 300m vs. waypoint flying.

Best of luck

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll save my pennies. When weather calms down here, plan to try a couple ideas I found on the net...turn off all other apps including bluetooth, and put phone in airplane mode to see if that results in any improvement in lag time. I failed to make those adjustments before.

If you put your phone in airplane mode it will have no WiFi support not allowing you to connect. Turning off Bluetooth may help since it is a transmit frequency from your phone. Shutting down other apps on your phone like messaging, FaceBook, mail etc will help also. They all attempt to connect to internet via the WiFi connection. I am tweaking an old Iphone 5(small display) to only run what is needed to support flight. Basically all unneeded apps will be disabled when running on battery.

hi, got my 501a a few days ago

i got the white relay with mine from amazon uk and havn't noticed lag anywhere near that bad with my android phone what phone you using.

i only realised after i ordered it that you can get a controller with but it cost more so i didn't cancel

its not too bad controlling it with virtual sticks and the screen seems to react fairly quickly

looking at the posts above about the h011a transmitter and short range disconnects i'm fairly happy i went for the cheaper option lol

only problem i do have is getting the drone to enter calibration mode when first connected, spent ages yesterday powering the drone off/on
closing and reopening the app disconnecting and reconnecting the phone to drone directly , almost gave up then thought of rebooting the phone and it connected straight away phew . so now i just reboot the phone before inserting battery and have no problem calibrating .

safe flying

As was suggested, the combination of HT501A, HT011, and HS001, worked very well for me with very little FPV lag. Now to learn how to have faith in what I'm seeing plus lots of practice.

Glad it worked for you. I have had nothing but problems with my HS001. I think I have a handle on it though and will try again.
