FAT32 SD CARD

Post by irussphone » Mon Jan 14, 2019 4:07 pm

I danced around this SD Card formatting issue for weeks now and now I'm a believer.

Well, I went back to version "46" this weekend and was very careful and it worked fine...sort of...long story short...it worked, flew well one time and then I couldn't connect again. I finally saw where you cannot format your SD Card in Windows 10 ExFAT system. I'm a believer. I reformatted my Samsung 128gb sd card with a 3rd party software to reformat to the FAT32 system and it all works great now.

Even after I updated with Camera update firmware files using a FAT32 card...I put my just plain old 128gb (EXFAT) card back in just for recording videos and it stopped connecting again so that when I finally had to use a third party software to format it in FAT32 formatting. Now it connects and records video every time … so far ;)

Yep... I put an ExFAT card in and the Zino did not recognise it and automatically asked me to re-format and then did a speed test.

I still like the 2.7k video best. Then I render it as 1080p.

I also have a Samsung EVO 128 Gb U3 SD card and had disconnects on every flight on all versions of the firmware - I'm currently running the latest upgrade V1.0.4.6. I suspected the disconnects had something to do with the 128 GB SD card so I did the following:

I partitioned the SD card into 3 partitions - one 8Gb Fat32, one 50 Gb NTFS and one 70 Gb Ntfs. The logic here was that the zino would only see the 8Gb Fat32 partition and ignore the 2 NTFS partitions. All the above was done in a Windows 10 machine. Microsoft limits Fat32 partitions to 32Gb so a third party software can be used to create larger FAT32 partitons or simply create a partition of your choice on the SD card and let the Zino format it. I am glad to report that so far, I have had no disconnects after six flights at different locations. Only time will tell if this is another solution or not.

When you format your sd at Zino, check the txt file speed must be 80 above. This wont give you any problem in upgrading camera firmware and video recording based on my experience. But my sd speed is 117

Nice info. I’m feeling much better about the reliability of the Zino now. Can’t wait to do some distance tests with my WiFi extenders.
