The firmware update did indeed increase the video quality in several areas. It will be alot easier to work with the footage for professional productions.
I've posted an analysis of this here: https://forum.hubsan.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=1503

There's a massive increase in quality.
A 22% increase in input bitrate, and hugely noticeable.

quality does look much better, picture size isn't compressed as much, but i'm still getting the yellow, purple flashes...mainly when i'm going from darker area to lighter one...needless to say i'm still running in manual mode! Hopefully this will be fixed in the next update.

WOW... so many mixed responses. It's not really in my wheelhouse of interest if its easier for Professionals or that Data analysis indicates a vast improvement. What's it look like?
Hubsan said "Improves Video Quality" ... "Addresses Soft Focus Issues" ... and that's all they said... it has been individuals (non Hubsan Employees) that have taken the time to deconstruct their ambitious attempt for success. and I tip my hat to you all.
IMHO - All I see is a slight change in contrast. Most say that the Soft Focus Issue still exists.

Do you all think soft focus issues are fixable? Or thats hardware related?

IMHO, I believe that the camera is not focused at infinity.
The only way to fix that is to move the lens closer to the sensor.
Short of dismantling the camera and turning the lens a hair, I think the only other option is to give it an external corrective lens.
Ask your optician for a few sample hard contact lens at different diopters and try a few out
I think the "soft focus" that Hubsan have addressed is the "moire" that is reduced by the reduction in compression.
It would be interesting to compare camera and see if any are focused at infinity.
