Hehe.. :D Now I am getting consistent results. Two flights today and both went very well, no unsteadiness, connects quickly. Still lose some height but I guess thats how it will be without optical sensors. Satisfied with the updates. Waiting for Hubsan team to help to improve picture quality and add rest of the functions to the app.

I had received my Zino last Sunday and hadn't been able to fly it until today. I had updated firmware to 1.0.44 with no issues whatsoever. I did calibration prior to flight a few times until the compass was close to true. I had a deviation of around 5 degrees. I took it up with auto take off and it hovered very steadily. I took it up to 100m, no issues. No TB observed. Did a few RTH and all landed within 2m of take off point.

I am disappointed in the video quality though. I filmed in 1080 and 2.7k and both look very washed up. Granted it was before sunrise, but I have another drone, and at 1080 beats handily the 2.7k quality of the Zino. Hopefully this is something that can be addressed soon.

Second flight, now with the sun out. The difference is noticeable in the sharpness of the videos. I filmed in the same spot in 2.7k and 4k. Flight was very stable. No issues, except the propellers show up quite often in the video.

I did notice that mine was much more stable after the update, it did tend to drift a little before the update not holding on GPS as well as my 501, but since the update it seems to hold the GPS much better, the only thing I noticed is when I make a sharp left or right turn that I tend to lose altitude sometimes it's not too bad but if I make a hard left or right turn really quickly it seems to lose about 8 to 10 meters or more as long as I turn fairly slow it does real well, other than that everything seems to work exceptionally well can't tell much difference in the gimbal upgrade but I haven't had more than about 10 or 12 hours of flight time so far

Tried a long flight today. Around 190 meters lost connection and started automatic return but it stayed disconnected until it came close to where I started and connected again when it was at 30 meters height. This was surprising as I was flying in a wide open area. Still got flashes when recording video.

iPhone with .44 update

Post by irussphone » Mon Dec 24, 2018 12:15 am

I finally got to fly the new update...I fly with iPhone...had two long flights and all went very well.
I went out to over 300 meters and about 40 meters high and the video never flickered.
RTH worked well within a meter of takeoff both times. Follow Me worked great.
In GPS mode I got about 9mps speed, pretty zippy. I recorded in 1080P 60fps.
The first movement forward and a quick stop makes it jerk a bit and still needs some tweaking.
Also when you RTH when you are in Follow Me mode (should have pushed STOP on Follow Me before RTH)
but it still came home fine, it just didn't give me any video or OSD updates until it landed and I turned FM off.
Other than that it was flawless. It held up well in 10-15mph winds. The video detail was very good.
I will post videos as I have them...below is a short Follow Me mode screen recording.

.44 Rules! (so far)

Hopefully Hubsan will release a new update soon... Had no problems with V1.0.44 since yesterday! 😏 I was flying in a wide open area and in a distance of about 40 m / 50m height it lost connection and started automatic RTH. The ZINO stayed disconnected until it came close to where I started and connected again when it was at 15 meters height. It also started doing circles, so I canceled RTH and landed it safely by my own.

Question.
Are you connecting to Zinos'wifi? If so,that's why the short distance.
The WiFi signal is for Zino to talk to the remote. The remote then talks to your device thru the OTG cable. The manual does not make this clear. It tells us to wait for the WiFi,but that's only for the quad to speak to remote, before we then attach the OTG cable to our device.
Hope thus clears things up.
