Differences in binding

Post by me_d6ecdBv7zl » Mon Jan 07, 2019 11:30 am

In the original written "Hubsan ZINO Manual" (pdf) the order for binding is:
1. Turn on the Zino, 2. Turn on the transmitter, 3. Connect the powered-on smartphone to the transmitter with a cable, 4. Connect using the Hubsan app

In the original "Hubsan Tutorial Pairing Video", the order is very different:
1. Turn on the transmitter, 2. Connect the powered-on smartphone to the transmitter with a cable, 3. Turn on the Zino, 4. Connect using the Hubsan app

My question is whether these differences in the order of binding as described are actually meaningless or not.

(Sorry for my not so good english – Google Translater......)

For the time I have it, I make the following order.
  1. I turn on the drone so that it starts searching for satellites and activates the wifi.

2. I turn on the transmitter and connect the cable to the smart phone.

Really if you do not turn on the zino first you will not have wifi and it will cost more.

There's really only one critical point that I have found, and that is the establishment of the OTG connection between the controller and the phone (or mobile device.

This is how I do it (android) mainly because it's the way I unpack my bag :)

1.Unstow antennas and power on the controller.
2. Unfold Zino arms, remove gimbal cover and power up leaving stationary to complete POST and initialisation.
3. Take phone out of pocket (already powered up) launch Hubsan app and enter interface menu. Fumble around putting phone in holder :D
4. check both the quad and controller are finished initialising (solid lights on controller, flashing blue lights on quad). Plug in OTG cable to phone.
Phone prompts for OTG connection (charge only, file transfer etc.) and press cancel.
Wifi connects, bridge icon show solid, full bars on signal display, app prompts "do you wish to bind?"
5. Answer Yes bind.
6. Fly.

Most of those happen concurrently and it took me longer to write than physically do.
I find it a very quick and simple process.
(this asumes that this is not the first connection and binding and you have previously connected to the AP in the past.)

Me myself don't wait for the zino and transmitter too finish their blinking sequence. USB cable is already plugged in to phone, open app and immediately plug cable in transmitter, connected every time. ;)

Android because of the different devices out there experiment with what works best for you. I have had to modify how I do things because my phone does not remember USB debugging between sessions. So now I have to.

Power on Zino
Setup phone debugging
Start phone App
Plug in OTG
and lastly turn on TX
