Zino: Hubsan's Problem Child, Born Premature
Zino: Hubsan's Problem Child, Born Premature
I have to bring myself to admit it
After only 48 hours with my Zino I'm disappointed...but I love it just the same
Early adopters in the drone market are used to new drones shipping with wonky firmware. Sorry to say, this is the case with Zino. That does not mean it's a bad drone, just one that needs special attention when flying at the moment. It's a problem child, but it can get better, it has the potential to be a great drone some day.
Thankfully we may see some of the initial deficiencies address with the Dec 10 firmware releases. Will that be enough? Rumor has it, maybe not...but it's a beginning. More firmware upgrades are already in the offing, we are told.
I'm willing to be be patient

Your correct about the firmware. Hubsan is selling a ton of Zinos. The demand is high and supply is low. With that said, I am sure they will spend resources on refining the application/firmware. I can't wait for firmware updates.
Here's Ailsa's response to cgartner issues about Zino drifting.

Super helpful - Not. There are deficiencies. Hmm?dogstar7 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 07, 2018 11:53 am

You seem to know how they're going to be fixed however.

Re: Zino: Hubsan's Problem Child, Born Premature
What I would like to know is at what point in time will the Zino's that are shipped out already have the 12/10 update.

Anyone can read what I wrote
If you're dissatisfied you can move along
It doesn't seem you're interested in Zino, only with starting arguments with people in this forum

Re: Zino: Hubsan's Problem Child, Born Premature
OK, so let me be more specific
I have experienced erratic responses to controller inputs as recently as this morning
After landing I powered the craft down and restarted it. It responded well after that
This happened during another flight yesterday, but after a restart it was fine
The "trick" functions in the app (follow me, orbit, etc.) are also presenting problems
Since I'm not all that interested in them, it is not an issue with me at the moment
I know that Hubsan is aware of this and is working on updating the app
I also understand the the firmware upgrades due out on Dec 10 will address the control issues and well as update the gimbal settings as well as the camera functions currently not addressable on the app.
Because I know many watching this forum have not made a purchase and are wondering if Zino is worth it, you should know that new firmware is being sent to early purchasers and will no doubt be installed in Zino's being shipped in the future.
To those waiting on orders that are still on their way, I am just saying that you might want to hold off on "testing" the Zino's limits and just enjoy flying it under controlled conditions until you install the firmware that is being released in the near future

Re: Zino: Hubsan's Problem Child, Born Premature
The ones that are already shipped have to have the new upgrades installed by the user after they arrive
Only those Zinos that have not left the factory in China will have the new firmware installed. The forward warehouses will not be equipped to install the new firmware. Once you power up the Zino and bind it with the app you will be able to confirm which firmware version yours has installed
(I'm sorry but I do not have the different numbers in front of me right now. Check with the Hubsan Official Support Page)

Hey dogstar7, Thanks for your comments, that is the type of feedback that is most helpful yet fair.

With all the comments and reviews, limiting flying Zino until we get firmware updates. Will cold temperature impairs performance (<32 F). I know they have mentioned that idle temperature is above 32.
