Hand take off & hand launch ?

I think that to switch off the motors you turn the drone on it's side. Am I correct? If yes, does that not affect the drone's performance in it's next flight? (I.e. does that not mess about with the gyros and stability sensors/settings?)

I either disarm by turning the quas 90º or by just holding the throttle low on newer Firmware (it depends which quad I'm flying and what firmware is currently loaded).
No it has absolutely zero affect on the IMU settings.
They are set during IMU calibration and stored. Flying or powering on and off does not change them.
