Hi,
I am new today to drones. I have a 501s x4. I turn it on, do the bind process. The screen never comes up saying calibrate compass, all suggestions and help would be appreciated.

Go on You tube there are good tutorials on h501s.

All I can suggest is... be sure the GPS and Hpme buttons are in the correct position. GPS - ON... Home - OFF.
Turn controller on first. Wait 10 seconds. Then turn on the Drone. The drone has to go through a few beeps and light flashings. Usually about 15 seconds or so. Then the display on the controller should say... Calibrate Compass 1 in yellow type. Then you turn craft clockwise until it says calibrate compass 2. There are no diagrams to illustrate calibrations on the screen... just the typed letters.

The latest 501ss drones have a new compass module which does not require a manual orientation to align the compass for every flight after a battery change. Your FC and RX firmware if checking your transmitter tx) will be around:-
